Birthday's are a big deal in our house. For me, its an excuse to style...and for them it's a chance to express who they are at this stage in their life. So this year Eadie chose a donut theme and Lilah a bacon theme! Both are obsessed with these things at the moment....Eadie adores the colours of decorated donuts. She is into drawing and graphic design, so donuts are the perfect way of expressing her love of colour. Lilah just loves bacon....her party is yet to come. Will post photos later.
Colour and sprinkles were the main ideas I picked up on....finishing up with a pile of donuts as a cake. A Mozi tablecloth from Lark Store created the base colours. I continued these colours in paper balls from the local cheap shop....
Plastic milk bottles are filled with pink lemonade and topped with a paper straw and donut biscuit. The pallet coasters were a handmade gift from the girls' clever Aunty Katie.
Food doesn't have to be extravagant...this was a cheesecake from the local supermarket that I dusted with sprinkles and added a cake topper. The topper was created from scrap booking bunting from kmart, stuck to two sticks.
Let the treats be the decoration...buckets of popcorn work like a table runner. The main thing is to make the containers look full and plentiful....even let them trickle out onto the table. Doesn't it make you want to sit down and start snacking?
And for those whose skill set does not include baking, just like me, the donut cake is ideal! I just piled up 21 glazed donuts, dusted some sprinkles and topped with another Kmart bunting cake topper. Best cake ever....and really easy to serve!
Now....on to the bacon party planning.....
