So, this is the holiday I spoke of in an earlier post....the one where we stayed at a family members house, who lived half an hour away.....and just pretended we were on holidays! Sure, not a traditional idea of a holiday but we certainly had a lovely time of it!
After our long half hour drive on Friday night we thought we should treat ourselves with a gelato from The Hood Milk Bar at The Junction. Not only are their ice cream flavours delicious but the rest of the menu is super cool with a range of shakes, burgers and fries! Not only that but for the design inclined, the fit out is so good.
Up and spritely the next morning we headed to the Hunt & Gather Markets at Pacific Park in Newcastle...Wow what a cool market! In recent, years I have gone off markets, due to their range of generally uninspiring junk but these ones were completely different. Vintage clothing, handmade stylish products, local health conscious and delicious food. Although not large, it makes up for size with what it packs in quality. After some food purchases and a beautifully made bow tie by Jaebird, we continued to wander through the city streets.
Newcastle is blooming at the moment with restaurants and boutique food shops popping up everywhere. Two of our favourites are hello naomi and Doughheads. Hello Naomi is a artist with sweets and cakes, the kids adore her cookies.
We wandered Darby St in a state of lovely bliss....Oh the shopping. This is my list of must do's!

After a dip at the beach and a little lie down....all holidays include an afternoon nap! Dinner was a delicious meal in a stunning building. The Lucky Hotel has had a beautiful facelift with an internal courtyard that makes you want to rip your house to bits just to recreate it...the southern american style food is also a delight. Must try the macaroni and cheese...to die for!
Newcastle is evolving with its trendy restaurants, artwork dotted throughout the city and unique businesses . We have got so many more weekends worth of exploring to do.....
